Are you unhappy or anxious in your relationships? I work with you (and other people you invite to sessions) to develop and maintain positive relationships with yourself and the important people in your life, your workplace, and your community. You can benefit from understanding what motivates behavior choices and interferes with communication and understanding.
Through my work with adults as individuals and couples, I promote personal strength, intentionality, and kindness. I practice from a person-centered philosophy. I believe that you are the expert on your personal situation and have the means to resolve problems within a safe relationship. Good emotional health is a congruence of ideal self and real self. Problems occur when there is a discrepancy between what you want to be and what you are experiencing. We will focus on the present and on experiencing and expressing feelings. The past will be discussed as needed as it affects your present feelings and behaviors.
Each individual is provided a personalized approach that may include interventions from a variety of sources and theories of change and understanding and tailored to each individual's needs to support personal growth.
My particular interests in the repair process include facilitating personal change, promoting effective communication, and relationship enrichment.
My style promotes self-sufficiency, personal strength, purpose, intentionality, authenticity, and kindness.
My role is to be a non-judgmental sounding board for your concerns. I will listen, and if problem-solving is desired, offer ideas on what you might want to do differently. However, I will not tell you what to do. No one knows what is best for you more than you as you are a unique individual. You are the one who will face the consequences of your choices, so it's important you you embrace whatever change you choose to make.
You will need to take an active role in the process. Please plan on attending 5-8 sessions in order to maximize your ability to sustain change.
It can be challenging to be in the field of mental health and struggle with our own individual needs. It's possible to wonder how helpful we can be to others if we can't help ourselves.
Therapists are people just like everyone else and can benefit from having a safe, non-judgemental place to process feelings and experiences.
I'm happy to be that support!
My goal for you is to feel heard, respected, and understood as we identify your individual goals. Progress will be determined by a variety of means including self-report, scaling questions, or other assessment tools. If you are not making progress towards your goals it may be appropriate to redesign our plan or methods or consider a referral to a specialist or other service.
My purpose: through service and example support others in pursuit of their personal and professional dreams.
$100 per session (up to one hour). Multiple hours can be scheduled if desired.
